Los Angeles Black and White Bathroom Remodel with Freestanding Tub and Matte Black Fixtures

Project Highlights

Freestanding Soaking Tub

An oval freestanding tub with a wall-mounted matte black filler sits against white beveled subway tile and anchors the whole room.

Matte Black Fixtures Throughout

Faucets, shower set, tub filler, mirror frames and hardware all carry the same matte black finish, tying the white and charcoal palette together.

Charcoal Hexagon Tile Floor

Large-format matte hexagon tile runs across the floor and repeats as a smaller black hex mosaic on the walk-in shower pan.

A Black and White Bathroom Remodel in Los Angeles

This Los Angeles bathroom was rebuilt around a strict black and white palette. White beveled subway tile wraps the walls, a freestanding oval tub sits beneath a wall-mounted matte black filler, and a glass-enclosed corner shower keeps the room feeling open instead of boxing it in. The vanity pairs driftwood-gray cabinetry with louvered drawer fronts on slim black steel legs, topped with marble-look quartz, two undermount sinks and matching black-framed mirrors. Underfoot, large-format charcoal hexagon tile carries through the whole room and shrinks down to a black hex mosaic inside the shower, so the same geometry reads at two scales. Matte black plumbing and hardware repeat at every touchpoint, which is what makes the two-color scheme feel deliberate rather than stark.

The Tub Wall

A Freestanding Tub Framed in Beveled Subway Tile

The tub wall does the heavy lifting in this room. White beveled subway tile runs behind an oval freestanding soaker, and the wall-mounted matte black filler keeps the tub deck clear so it reads as one clean sculptural shape against the charcoal hexagon floor.

Inside the Shower

A Glass Corner Shower with Black Hex Mosaic Floor

The corner shower was built on site and enclosed in clear frameless glass, so the tile keeps reading through it instead of stopping at a wall. Inside, the room’s charcoal hexagon floor shrinks down to a black hex mosaic pan, and the matte black shower set and hardware match the fixtures in the rest of the room.
